Garden coaching
Design thinking before garden works begin
A garden coaching session gives you expert, independent guidance at the moment when the right decisions matter most — before plans, quotes, contractors and works begin to gather momentum.

Definition
What is garden coaching?
Garden coaching is an on-site design consultation in your own garden.
It is a guided conversation with an experienced garden designer, using the real place in front of us: the house, land, views, access, slopes, sun, wind, existing planting, technical constraints and the way you want to live outside.
It helps you move from scattered ideas to a clearer direction.
What we can explore
What can we cover together?
A coaching session can cover structure, circulation, terraces, pool surroundings, shade, privacy, planting atmosphere, drought, irrigation, maintenance, drainage, levels, phasing and how to brief contractors clearly.
Not a sales visit
It is an independent moment of design thinking before the project becomes technical or commercial.
That distinction matters. When the early thinking is clear, later conversations with landscapers, artisans, pool companies, nurseries or local authorities become far more productive.

Practical reality
Beauty must be possible
A garden can be elegant, generous and full of atmosphere — but it still has to work.
Penelope’s coaching is grounded in years of experience in garden design and project follow-through in France. She will help you think about planning constraints, protected sites, access for machinery, levels and retaining walls, drainage, sewerage, electricity supply, irrigation, soil conditions, exposure, prevailing wind, summer heat, maintenance and realistic phasing.
This practical intelligence helps prevent a seductive idea from becoming an expensive mistake.
